Located in Melbourne, La Trobe University is one of the most respected universities in the world with over 27,000 students enrolled. Last year, The Times Higher World University Rankings included La Trobe University in the top 100 universities worldwide. Faculty of Law and Management The Faculty of Law and Management shares the University’s global perspective and actively encourages international exchanges for academics and students, cooperative arrangements with overseas universities, and involvement in international research projects, such as the 14th Global Finance Conference, which was hosted and chaired in 2007. Academics from the Faculty are regular visitors to many of the major universities in Europe, America, and Asia and the Faculty hosts return visits from esteemed overseas scholars. School of Law  La Trobe Law attracts an increasing number of international students. Most of these students are enrolled in the LLM for International Students program. They come from countries such as Germany, Spain, France, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Peru, Venezuela, Mexico, Canada, China, Kuwait, India and Thailand. Many of our academic staff of some 40 persons have an overseas background and hold adjunct appointments at overseas universities and institutions. The School of Law has various LLM articulation and exchange arrangements and expects to enter similar agreements with universities in other countries in the near future. Our North American and Asian Exchange partners include Duke University, University of Hawai’i, Texas Tech University, The China University of Politics and Law in Beijing and Shanghai University. We are involved in international scholarly activities at the highest level. For example, La Trobe University, the Faculty of Law & Management at La Trobe University and La Trobe Law will host and Chair the 14th Global Finance Conference in Melbourne in 2007. Postgraduate ProgramsGlobal Business LawLegal practice is global. Our Global Business Law (GBL) program gives the baseline knowledge you need to become a successful global legal practitioner. Leading professors, practitioners and in-house counsel from around the world teach our innovative units in American, European and Asian-Pacific business law. Our units respond to such real-life challenges as the AUSFTA, the Chinese demand for Australian energy resources and the European Union’s status as Australia’s leading trading partner. The GBL program will appeal to talented, motivated, and ambitious mid-career lawyers with an international approach to the practice of law who are seeking to become part of a dynamic practice in the fastest-growing business centres of the world, such as London, Shanghai and New York. It will also appeal to lawyers interested in sitting the New York bar exam. Conflict Resolution La Trobe Law has over 10 years experience in providing Conflict Resolution education in Australia. Our intensive, innovative and flexible programs are led by world class facilitators and researchers in small group environments. We combine research-based learning with real-world experience in personalised professional development and postgraduate programs. The extended conflict resolution program offers an opportunity to acquire expertise in a new area of specialisation or build upon pre-existing qualifications in particular areas of interest. The units are delivered in a flexible and innovative manner, including traditional, block, and intensive modes. They are designed to be relevant to people from a wide range of backgrounds including business, law, government, and human resource management. Public Interest Law In 2006 La Trobe Law launched its Public Interest Law Postgraduate Program, continuing the School's commitment to innovation and responsiveness to developments in the justice system. It offers the opportunity to study at an advanced academic level the intersection of law and the public interest. The Program has been developed by La Trobe Law in collaboration with Public Interest Law Clearinghouse House (Vic) and Consumer Law Centre Victoria.
